Frequently Asked Questions

Can a minor (under 21) own property in Dubai?

Yes. There is no minimum age requirement to own property in Dubai. However, if a minor's property needs to be sold, donated, or mortgaged, a court judgment approving the transaction is required from the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (for UAE nationals) or from the competent court. When purchasing property for a minor, the legal guardian signs the sale contract on their behalf.

Note also that a guardian must be at least 21 years old. If you are planning ahead, registering a UAE will that appoints a guardian for minor children is strongly recommended.
