Frequently Asked Questions

What documents are needed to register a will?

For a DIFC will, you will typically need:

  • Valid passport
  • Emirates ID (if you are a UAE resident)
  • Details of all UAE assets to be covered (title deeds, bank account details, share certificates)
  • Full names, dates of birth, and passport details of all beneficiaries
  • Details of the appointed executor(s)
  • Details of guardians (if minor children are involved)
  • Passport details of two adult witnesses (who must not be beneficiaries)

All documents listed above need to be attested. For Dubai Courts registration, the will must be in Arabic or bilingual, and you will need your passport and Emirates ID. No witnesses are required for Dubai Courts registration.

Your electronic Title Deed — a key document for your will — is accessible via the Dubai REST app under Property Wallet → Electronic Title Deed. You can view, download, and share it from there.
