Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Golden Visa status for dependents if the primary holder is deceased?

One of the most significant advantages of the Golden Visa is the stability it provides to family members during difficult transitions.

  • Independence of Residency: In the event of the primary Golden Visa holder's death, all sponsored family members (spouse and children) are permitted to remain in the UAE on their existing visas until the original expiration date of their residence permits.
  • Tenure Protection: Golden Visa dependent permits remain legally valid for the remainder of their 10-year (or 5-year) term.
  • Domestic Staff: This protection also extends to domestic workers sponsored by the Golden Visa holder; they may typically remain until the end of their current contract or visa validity to support the family.
  • Post-Expiry Options: Once the dependents' visas reach their natural expiry date, family members must then qualify for residency in their own right by applying for their own Golden Visa (if they inherit the qualifying property), obtaining employment, or enrolling in a local educational institution.
