Frequently Asked Questions
Is there inheritance tax in the UAE?
No. The UAE does not impose inheritance tax. However, heirs who inherit property must still pay the Dubai Land Department (DLD) transfer fee of 4% of the property value when registering the property in their name, plus court and administrative fees. These costs should be planned for in advance.
If the inherited property qualifies for a Golden Visa or Retirement Visa, heirs who take ownership may then be eligible to apply for their own long-term residency based on the transferred asset.
Prosper tracks your property's current market value and can help your heirs or estate professionals understand the DLD transfer fee liability in advance — making estate planning more accurate and less stressful.
