Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Muslim will give more than one-third of the estate to a chosen person?

No — not directly. A Muslim testator can only direct up to one-third of the estate freely. If all legal heirs agree after the death, they may consent to allow a beneficiary to receive more. However, this cannot be enforced in the will itself.
