Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I continue living in the property after my lease expires without signing a new contract?
Under Article 6 of Law No. 26 of 2007, if a tenant continues to occupy the property after the lease expires and the landlord raises no objection, the contract is automatically renewed on the same terms. The renewal period is either the same as the original term or one year — whichever is shorter.
For tenancy renewals, Prosper generates a renewal contract 100 days before expiry and sends it to the landlord along with the RERA rental index document. You can learn more about how tenancy renewals work on Prosper, or follow the steps to renew your Ejari contract as a tenant on Dubai REST.
